opened the Sandbar & Grille in Hatteras Village December 31 1997. With Jane's mom Linda,and some great friends, they managed to pull off what seemed impossible, to open a casual atmosphere restaurant with great food and live entertainment in nine days. Originally from NY, Jane & John had been working in another restaurant nearby for four years, and finally decided they had to branch out on their own, or move back to NY to find a different path. Well, 27 years later, they're married, have two great kids, Johnny, 18, and Molly Rose 14, born during a nor'easter in 2010, and are about to begin Season 27. That's not to say it was easy, because it wasn't. On September 18th, 2003, Hurricane Isabel brought her wrath down on Hatteras and took the Sandbar out, completely, leaving nothing behind but a shell of a building. As well as Jane's parents home in Frisco. At the end of their 6th season, they suddenly found themselves without a building, or any of their belongings, but with a loyal following that just wouldn't let them quit.
